365: Programming

Posted on August 4, 2014

365 days. 8,760 hours. 52 weeks. 12 months. All of these equal 1 year. Less than a year from now Sunrise, a campus of Castleton United Methodist Church, launches as a new, stand-alone United Methodist church. July 1 of 2015. In this post I’ll be describing what our Programming looks like for the Fall as Sunrise moves towards its eventual end and beginning as a new church.

Our program staff consists of a full-time director of children’s ministries, who oversees our preschool as well as children’s programming for the church, a part-time director of student ministries we just announced last week, and myself. This will allow Sunrise to offer programming for all ages for the first time in a long time. Here is a brief description of what some of our weekly programming will look like:

9am – Adult Study*
10am – Worship*
10am – Children’s Sunday School

9am – Women’s Bible Study*

6:30pm – Midweek Conversation Adult Study*
6:30pm – Student Ministries Small Group

6:30pm – Adult Small Groups*

6am – Men’s Bible Study (meets offsite)

Besides these activities each week, we’ll be having a Fall kickoff event after church on Sept. 7th, a free Community Chili Carnival on Sept. 27th, and a free Trunk-or-Treat on Oct. 26th. Each of these events are outreached focused, open to the community, and free to attend. One of the goals of our programming is to engage families and individuals with meaningful content, conversations, and relationships without overwhelming their already over-programmed schedules.

I’ll be interested to hear your questions or thoughts. The next post will be discussing our current and projected finances.
